Sr. Software Engineer - Analytics


Founded in 2003, located in Kansas City, Missouri and sales offices in London, Sydney, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, Adknowledge operates a central online marketplace (www.bidsystem.com) for advertisers seeking additional ways to market their products and services online and extend their reach beyond Google® and Yahoo®. 

 

Adknowledge benefits advertisers, publishers and consumers alike by delivering ads that are more relevant than typical online advertisements.  The company accomplishes this by utilizing its proprietary and leading-edge behavioral targeting technologies.

 

In addition, Adknowledge provides full-service solutions to a wide spectrum of publishers seeking to monetize their digital assets.  Examples include search engines, email list owners, Internet Service Providers, Facebook developers, affiliate networks and web site operators.

 

Our department, Behavioral Targeting, provides a central lab for statistical analysis, machine learning, and distributed computing, to service business needs throughout the rest of our company for targeted consumer advertising. We have a mission to deliver high quality, timely analysis, distill real business insights from large data sets, and provide scalable analytics which the rest of the company consumes on demand. In addition, we assist on studies, metrics, data visualization, system architecture, etc., in other areas of our business.

 

Our staff working in Behavioral Targeting at Adknowledge are instrumental in driving analytic changes with large implications for our company’s revenue. Primary duties for the Senior Software Engineer consist of:

 

  1. Analysis: Work alongside quantitative analysts who simulate and test economic relationships within a very large dataset of consumer behavior in the online marketing industry.
  2. Solutions: Translate learnings from simulations and analysis into system concepts and computer algorithms that form the core of behavior-targeted analytic products, which increase the effectiveness of real-time ad delivery and campaign selection systems.
  3. Troubleshooting: Analyze and troubleshoot our proprietary targeting system to optimize revenue across multiple channels of business.

Additional duties include:

 

·        Collaborate closely with quantitative analysts on the team to implement machine learning algorithms used for production systems.

 

 

CANDIDATE OVERVIEW 

The successful candidate will be a vital addition to the team with at least:

 

·        Minimum 3+ years industry experience maintaining a code base written in Java for high-availability, mission critical services.

·        Has had formal studies plus industry experience in distributed computing, e.g. MapReduce, Hadoop, AWS, DHTs, etc.

·        Industry experience working with very large datasets.

·        Familiarity wtih parallel algorithms development.

·        Familiarity with machine learning, data mining, recommendation systems, knowledge discovery, information retrieval.

 

Additional experience areas which contribute key advantages to the team:

 

·        Thesis work specifically in collaborative filtering, or related areas.

·        Strong background in Math and Statistics.

·        Familiarity with data visualization techniques and software.

·        Prior experience in on line advertising.

·        Additional work experience or academic focus in operations research, graph analysis, behavioral modeling, demographic analysis.
